Following the very successful hosting of European and World Cup ski racing events in Soldeu for the past two years, Soldeu has been chosen to host the European Cup Finals in March 2014!

This fantastic achievement has been made possible due to the impressive work being done to continually improve the slopes of Grandvalira, now with FIS approved slopes in both Soldeu and El Tarter, as well as the excellent planning and delivery of previous events.

Hosting the finals week in 2014 is another step towards the future ambitions of Grandvalira who are aiming to host more World Cup racing in the coming seasons.  Following the racing earlier in 2013 Conrad Blanch, Managing Director of Grandvalira-Ensisa said “organising the European Cup is the best possible advert for our destination, and we are keen to continue to host first-class competitions like the World Cup in future”.

The racing this year runs from March 11th until 16th featuring the following races:

  • 11/03 – Giant slalom (men)
  • 12/03 – Slalom (men)
  • 12/03 – Downhill (women)
  • 13/03 – Super G (men)
  • 13/03 – Super G (women)
  • 14/03 – Giant slalom (women)
  • 15/03 – Slalom (women)
  • 16/03 – Downhill (men)

For the event some runs will be closed however efforts are always made to keep as many slopes open as possible for regular skiers and snowboarders, however the resort will come alive with a carnival atmosphere as the European Cup racing calendar comes to a close with top athletes competing for the end of season silverwear.
