Activities in Grandvalira

Dog Mushing

Grandvalira boasts an impressive 210km of pistes spread over the sectors of Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp.  Even the most active of snow-sports lovers would find it difficult to get bored during a stay there, but on top of this they have a wealth of other activities that you can enjoy if whether you are a non-skier looking for an alternative or you love to try new things, we’ve compiled some information on the great activities that they offer.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

If you are a competent skier, physically fit and are looking for a new way to explore the mountain on skis, cross-country skiing offers you the change to enjoy the landscape from a different perspective. Snowshoes

SNOWSHOES

With a range of different routes exploring the Grandvalira domain, make sure you take your camera to record your journey through snowy trails and even over frozen lakes.  A very sociable activity, you will be accompanied by a guide who will show you the hidden parts of the mountain.  Enjoy in Grandvalira-Pas de la Casa sector, Grandvalira-El Tarter sector and in the Adventure Activities Center (Grandvalira-Grau Roig sector).  Walks last between 1 and 5 hours.

IGLOO BUILDING

The next level up from building a snowman! This is a really exciting, unique activity that will not only teach you the techniques of building an igloo, but you will have great fun along the way.  Best suited for groups or families, you will always have an expert with you to guide you the way.

SNOW TUBING

The most fun way to throw yourself down a mountain! Great fun for all the family as you slide down the snow on giant inflatable rings, you’ll be laughing all the way to the bottom.

Snowmobiles

PAINTBALLING

A fantastic group activity that takes place on the battlefield at the Adventure Activities Centre.  They provide everything you need  (pistols, clothing and protection) to enjoy this entertaining activity where teams pit their tactical ability against one another

SNOWMOBILES

For thrill-seekers, these jet skis on snow are the ultimate way to make you feel like James Bond! Snowmobiles run from the Grandvalira-Pas de la Casa sector, at Grandvalira-Grau Roig sector and on the circuit at Grandvalira-Soldeu sector.  Anyone under the age of 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult.

Mushing

MUSHING

One of the most traditional snow activities, this is great for dog lovers and families alike.  With carefully selected routes that take you through the beautiful mountain setting amongst the forests of Grandvalira.  The routes are marked on the circuits of Riba Escorxada (Grandvalira-El Tarter sector) and at the Adventure Activities Center (Grandvalira-Grau Roig sector).

SNOW GROUP CHALLENGE

This challenge will certainly test your abilities, including activities like snowmobile skills circuit, assault course in the forest, archery, ARVA, snowshoe race and surprise orienteering points.  Great fun for large groups, to have a bit of friendly competition.

NIGHT-TIME SKIING

Hosted in Pas de la Casa, this is ideal for people who are always the last down from the mountain and never want their day on the slopes to end.  Running twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays, the Solana/Tubs slope is floodlit and open from 17:00 – 20:00. (Activity is subject to weather conditions).

Iglu hotel

IGLOO HOTEL

This unique experience will certainly be one you never forget, the only one of its kind in southern Europe.  Situated 7,700 above sea level this hotel is made purely from snow and has impressive features such as a bar, terrace, restaurant and even a spa! With 5 rooms all-around 20 meters squared, this will be a magical night for anyone that stays.

GROOMER RIDES

Have you ever wondered how they take care of the pistes and keep them in prime condition, well in Grandvalira you can accompany a driver and see exactly what driving a ratrac entails.

Zipline

ZIP-LINE

This activity is not for the faint-hearted, as this zip-line is 40 meters off the ground and 500 meters long.  If you can manage to keep your eyes open you will enjoy absolutely stunning views over the lake ‘Llac del Forn’ as the adrenaline is pumping and you’ll reach speeds of up to 80 km/h as you whizz down in a seated position.  To enjoy the zip-line you need to be a minimum of 40kg and if going as a pair you can’t exceed 100kg separately. Located in the Mon(t) Magic Family Park Canillo this is something not to be missed.

PARAGLIDING FLIGHTS

If you want to discover the highest peaks of Grandvalira and see the mountains from a completely new, spectacular perspective then this is the activity for you.

PANORAMIC HELICOPTER FLIGHTS

Take off from the Grandvalira-Soldeu sector and enjoy this panoramic flight over the mountains.  The 10-minute ride will take you over the stunning landscapes while you experience beautiful views along with the thrill of the helicopter.  This activity is for a minimum of 4 people.
