Collecting lift passes & checking-in for Ski School – Pal sector

There’s nothing better than feeling completely prepared before a holiday, especially your skiing holiday to Andorra! We help take the stress out of your ski or snowboarding trip by bringing you the most up-to-date advice on everything you need to know about your chosen resort. In this case, what you should do if you have chosen to stay in La Massana and your ski base will be the Pal sector of Vallnord Pal-Arinsal.

Pal is an amazing place to ski in Andorra, situated in the mountains above La Massana. This village has everything that you would need on holiday. There are supermarkets, banks, shops and restaurants, all within easy walking proximity. It’s also a really beautiful place to stay, surrounded by snow-topped mountains, rivers and the sparkling lights of the neighboring hamlets of Anyos and Sispony. The gondola takes around 12 minutes to the base of the mountain where the fun really gets started!

Before you go up to the mountain, you’ll need to collect your lift passes. The gondola building for Pal is in the Community Center right in the middle of La Massana, with a large multi-story carpark underneath it. From the car park you can go up in the lift the level 2, walk along the walkway and find the ticket office. The main entrance is just above the car park, visible from the street. The walkway connects to roundabout with hotels, a bar and our rental partners, Shusski. There’s also a side entrance to the ticket office here, right next to the smaller of the two Shusski shops. Here, you will be able to show your voucher (attached to your confirmation email from Andorra Resorts and have your booking for Pal printed for your winter holiday.

Where is the ski school in Pal?

It’s super easy to find the ski school in Pal. As you approach the entrance of the station from the gondola and car park, you will see a central set of stairs. These are to the left of the main Lift Pass office. As you look from the top you will see a restaurant below you to the left and the beginner slope. Take the stairs down to the slopes and just on your right-hand side at the bottom is the ski school. Again, you will need your voucher ready, so you can collect your pre-booked tickets here before you start your lessons. We recommend being there 15 to 20 minutes before your lesson starts at 12pm.

After you collect your tickets and leave the ski school, you’ll see towards your left the beginner area complete with a carpet lift. It goes up the slope in two sections, so beginners can start with a nice short green run, or a longer distance as they progress up the second carpet. Just in front of the carpet lift is an area where you will meet your instructor. You’ll notice there is a separate area for adult lessons and children’s group lessons.

There are four different groups to join; Debutants (first-time skiers), Cunya (snowplow skiers), Elemental (when you know the basics) and Parallel for all of you that already have your parallel turns. The signs are yellow, green, blue and red respectively. You will already have your ski school tickets to give to your instructor and there will be a small skills test to make sure you’re in the right group for all apart from complete beginners.

Snowboarding lessons in Andorra are really popular here in Pal too, with the meeting point for all lessons closer to the ski school office at the red disk number 5. It even says Snowboarding on it. Your teacher will meet you here to get you started, the different levels will be taken to different areas to start the lessons.
