Caldea, Andorra. Thermal water, mountain views.
Southern Europe's largest thermal spa is right next to Andorra la Vella — lagoons, saunas and open-air pools fed by natural hot springs, whatever the weather is doing outside.
Caldea is Andorra's landmark thermal spa — the glass tower rising out of Escaldes-Engordany, filled with lagoons, jacuzzis, saunas and steam baths fed by the town's natural thermal springs. It's the largest thermal spa in southern Europe and one of the country's essential days out, in ski season and summer alike.
The spring water emerges at around 70°C, rich in minerals, and has drawn bathers to Escaldes for centuries. Caldea serves it at a perfect 32–34°C across its pools, so you can drift from indoor lagoons to open-air bathing with snow on the peaks around you.
Currently there are two ways to visit — Classic and Premium — plus Likids, a dedicated children's spa for ages 3 to 8. This guide covers everything inside the spa and exactly which ticket includes it, so you can pick the right option for your group.

The spa
The rest day your legs will thank you for.
Most people build Caldea into a ski trip as the mid-week recovery day — a few hours floating in warm thermal water does more for tired legs than any lie-in. But it works just as well as a first-day warm-up, a bad-weather backup plan or the finale before a late flight home, and in summer it pairs perfectly with a morning's shopping in Andorra la Vella next door.
Inside, the spa spreads across a series of indoor and outdoor spaces: big social lagoons with massage jets, quiet themed baths, contrast circuits of sauna, steam and cold plunge, and terraces where you bathe outdoors year-round. Evening sessions are special — the tower lights up and you watch the sky darken over the mountains from the water.
Everything runs on the same mineral-rich thermal water the town is named for (Escaldes means 'hot waters' in Catalan), and the spa is open year-round, with high-season shows adding acrobatics and live music above the lagoons.

The great lagoon
Caldea's centrepiece and the biggest lagoon in the spa — thermal water at 32–34°C, hydromassage basins working different parts of the body, and waterfalls that pummel the knots out of your upper back.
The outdoor lake
A genuine high-mountain lake in the middle of town — outdoor thermal bathing at 32–34°C surrounded by native Andorran planting. Magical in the snow. Open with reduced hours on a Classic ticket.
The panoramic lagoon
A transparent 100 m² pool hovering over the Valira river on the outdoor terrace — bathe at 32–34°C looking straight down the valley. One of the most photographed spots in Andorra.
The Nordic sauna
Dry heat at around 85°C to loosen tired ski legs, release muscle tension and help flush out toxins — the classic post-slopes recovery, done properly.
The hammam
A Turkish steam bath at over 55°C with near-total humidity — the oldest bathing tradition in the world. A cold fountain sits at its centre, with benches inspired by Arabic bathhouses around it.
The Indo-Roman baths
Inspired by the cave temples of Elephanta Island: a hot bath at 36°C, a cold plunge at 14°C and a rest area between. The contrast tones the muscles and gets circulation moving in the legs.
The three-level lagoon
Three stainless-steel basins stepping down in waterfalls, with aquatic benches, swan-neck jets and massage streams at every level — the avant-garde heart of the adults-only Premium floor.
The bubble-bed lagoon
An indoor pool built for doing absolutely nothing: stretch out on beds of bubbles and watch the mountains and the valley through the glass.
The outer lagoon & waterfall
Premium's outdoor showpiece — thermal water at 32–33°C, a central waterfall and bubble beds under the open sky, with pure Pyrenean air above. In winter you bathe while the snow settles around you.
The themed baths
Three escapes in one corner of the Premium floor: a Japanese grapefruit bath with floating fruit to scrub your skin, an Aztec bath that massages the soles of your feet, and a lemon-scented pool with a colour-changing waterfall.
The solarium jacuzzis
Outdoor jacuzzis on the terraces with spectacular mountain views, set beside a solarium among Mediterranean gardens with ambient music. The spot for a long soak in the sun.
The ice cabin
A dry cold room with a wall of ice, held 5–10°C below the outside temperature — all the benefits of cold exposure without the shock of a plunge pool, finished with an aromatic mist shower.
The chromatic salt sauna
A sauna with a wall of 100% natural rock salt, saturating the air with mineral micro-particles that are great for the airways and the skin — with colour therapy while you sweat, and ritual exfoliation showers next door.

Both tickets are timed entries booked for a set date and slot. Classic is the full thermal experience; Premium adds the quieter adults-only floor and an extra hour. Prices vary by date, so treat these as from-prices.

For children
Likids — the children's spa.
Likids is Caldea's spa built exclusively for children aged 3 to 8 — a dedicated space where younger kids get their own thermal experience while the adults enjoy the main lagoons. Sessions are run by instructors, so it doubles as brilliant childcare in the middle of your spa day.
Everything is scaled down, warmed up and supervised: shallow thermal water, play-led activities, and treatments designed for small people. Children under 5 aren't allowed in the main spa (ages 3–4 can only use Likids), so this is exactly how the youngest members of the group still get their Caldea day.
The thermal lagoon
A 40 cm-deep, 75 m² pool of warm thermal water built for play — waterbeds, aquatic currents and water cannons.
The soft beach
A sensory play area of soft dunes shaped like water bubbles, for climbing, lying and instructor-led games.
The little sauna
A gentle relaxation space that never goes above 24°C — stories, quiet games and learning to switch off, kid-style.
The beauty area
Child-friendly pampering — manicures, foot massages and yoghurt face masks, all with products made for young skin.
The fitness area
A 30 m² space for guided yoga and psychomotor games, run by the Likids instructors.
