Summer sees the mountains of Andorra transform into a bikers paradise, both for mountain bikers who want to hit the trails and for road bikers who want to challenge themselves following the routes of the Tour de France and Vuelta a España.
As well as the famous road races which regularly visit Andorra, Vallnord has been hosting World Cup and World Championship downhill mountain bike events for a number of years and has a reputation for its world-class facilities. If it's your first time taking to two wheels in a ski resort, then you'll be pleased to know that the lifts work in summer to take you and your bike to the top of the slopes so you can just enjoy the thrill of the downhill.
Whilst you can bring your own bike with you, there are plenty of options for renting bikes in Andorra, so just like skis you can rent a suitable bike just for the day or for your whole visit.
The hosts of the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, Vallnord Bike Park is one of the main attractions of Andorra during the summer months, offering 29 circuits at different levels...
Three lifts operate during summer: La Massana gondola lift (taking you from La Massana at 1,300 metres up to Pal La Caubella, at 1,950 metres), then two detachable chairlifts (La Serra II and El Cubil), the latter reaching 2,350 metres which is the highest point in the Bike Park.
Don't worry if you’re a beginner as four of the bike circuits are classified for beginners ("green”) plus you can join the bike school. Just like skiing, you can choose group or private lessons, either with or without your equipment included, giving you flexibility to do what suits you best.
