Andorra in Summer
Why Andorra in summer
Andorra sits high in the Pyrenees between France and Spain — most of the country is above 1,000m, and the ski resorts climb past 2,500m. That means cool, fresh days when the coast is melting, with all the activity options of a major Alpine destination at a fraction of the price.
Daytime highs in the valleys typically sit between 18°C and 25°C through June, July and August — markedly cooler than the Spanish coast, while still warm enough for shorts. Evenings get fresh, so pack a layer. Most resorts get the odd thunderstorm in the afternoon, which is part of the charm.
The Andbus shared transfer runs all year — ten daily services between Barcelona airport and Andorra, four daily from Toulouse. Both airports are well-connected to the UK, with budget carriers serving Barcelona from at least 15 UK airports. Hire car from the airport is the other obvious option.
Andorra runs a sales tax of just 4.5%, with perfume, cigarettes and alcohol all duty-free. Accommodation is broadly cheaper than the French or Swiss Alps for an equivalent standard, so a family summer trip works out at a real saving over more famous mountain destinations.
The Andorran summer season runs from mid-June through to mid-September, with the main mountain parks, bike park lifts and family attractions open across those months. Schools break later than the UK, so July is busier with French and Spanish families — June and early September are noticeably quieter if you want the trails and lifts more to yourself.
Hotels stay open year-round in the resort towns. Some smaller mountain restaurants close between the seasons (late April to early June, and October to early December), but the supermarkets, big restaurants, bars and spas in Andorra la Vella and the larger villages all run as normal.
We organise flexible, independent holidays to Andorra all year — not just in winter. Pick the activities that fit your group from the tiles above, search accommodation directly with us, and book airport transfers from Barcelona or Toulouse. If you'd like a hand putting the trip together, drop us a line via the contact page and we'll sort the rest.
