When you visit Andorra for your ski holiday it’s definitely not just about the skiing or snowboarding!  Après ski is fantastic here so we’ve compiled a list of our top ten off-the-slopes activities we think you should try.

1. Caldea Spa, Andorra la Vella

A magnificent eye-catching building in the heart of the capital holds the recently enlarged Caldea spa which is the highest natural spa in Europe.  The various spa pools and treatments on offer provide some much needed recovery after a hard day on the slopes!

2. Tobotronc, Naturlandia, St Julia

Head to Naturlandia for an exhilerating ride on the world’s longest toboggan through natural surroundings (5½ km).  It’s a great attraction for families and thrill seekers alike, plus there are lots of other activities available here such as cross country skiing, snowmobiles, a zip-wire and quad bikes.

3. Ice Skating, Palau de Gel, Canillo

As you’re coming on a winter holiday you can try another winter sport, this time gliding across the ice on Andorra’s indoor ice rink in Canillo.

4. Live Music, The Derby Irish Bar, Arinsal

The staff here create a great atmosphere and host regular live music both for après ski as well as several evenings during the week, culminating with their party night on Friday.  With Guiness and Magners on draft it’s a little piece of Ireland in Arinsal!

5. Stay at the Igloo Hotel, Grau Roig

For a wonderful winter experience book yourself in for a night at the Igloo Hotel in Grau Roig, Grandvalira.  You’ll be whisked up the mountain for dinner before sleeping in a hotel made of ice.

6. Dog Sledding, El Tarter

For dog lovers it’s a must, being sped along the snow with a team of dogs, and you can even get to drive the sled if you like!

7. Shopping, Andorra la Vella

Andorra is famous for its shopping so definitely pay a visit to the capital, Andorra la Vella especially if you’re looking for cheap alcohol, tobacco or electrical goods.  We’d recommend heading in during the evening as the city has undergone a recent transformation so it looks stunning with twinkling lights along the bustling main street.

8. Rib Shack, Fat Albert’s Restaurant, Soldeu

Head to our favourite restaurant in Soldeu on a Tuesday evening to experience their “Rib Shack” night with unlimited ribs plus delicious baked potatoes, salads and pasta to go with them.  It’s a very cosy restaurants in an old barn so a great atmosphere.  Booking is essential (phone +376 851765) and afterwards the party goes on until late in their bar upstairs.

9. Snowmobiling, Pas de la Casa

A fab activity taking you speeding across the snow to explore the mountains and see some secluded places in Grandvalira.  You can book trips of various lengths plus look out for excursions including a snowmobile ride such as dinner up the mountain.

10. Helicopter Trip, Various Locations

Discover Andorra “VIP style” by taking a trip with HeliAnd who depart from various locations throughout Andorra during the week.  Despite Andorra only being small you’ll be amazed at the stunning landscapes with high peaks and beautiful lakes. We’ve taken the 10-minute panoramic trip but they also offer heli-skiing and transfers between resorts.
