Dog Sledding & Puppies

Sofia with a husky puppy

Today we had a team outing to go dog sledding in El Tarter, one of the fantastic apres ski activities you can enjoy when you visit Grandvalira.  After arriving at the top of the Tarter Gondola we could already hear the barking of the dogs in the distance, with a five minute walk across the snow we could see the excitable dogs getting ready to whisk their next customers off around their track.

Our guide gave us a basic introduction of how to “mush” but the dogs didn’t need much encouragement!  It didn’t take long to get the hang of it and the dogs seemed used to beginners not knowing what to do, but after a couple of minutes we were going along nicely and away from the noise of the ski slopes – until you’re away from the ski slopes you forget how tranquil the mountains really are.  It’s a fantastic activity, really good fun, and a great way to see more of the beautiful mountains in Grandvalira.

As an added bonus we also got to see the beautiful husky puppies who just loved rolling around and playing in the snow!

If you fancy giving dog sledding a go then send us an email to book in advance, or visit the information desk at foot of the slopes and they can book you in.  You can try dog sledding in the El Tarter and Grau Roig sectors of Grandvalira, as well as in Pal in Vallnord.
