Car Hire: Driving Licence Changes

If you’re planning on hiring a car for your next ski holiday to Andorra then make sure you’re aware of the forthcoming changes to UK driving licences.  From 8th June 2015 the paper part of the licence will no longer be valid, so instead before you travel you’ll need to get a one-time code from the DVLA website which enables you to share an online version of your licence which would show your entitlement to drive plus any points you may have.

The code is only valid for 72 hours so you need to make sure you only get the code a couple of days before you travel.  Whilst the government are saying you should destroy your the paper copy of your licence, the AA recommend keeping it and taking it with you just in case the hire company aren’t aware of the new rules.
