This winter sees the largest skiable domain in the Pyrenees grow even larger, with the addition of a new sector linked into the Grandvalira ski area. The Peretol freestyle park has been a haven for thrill seekers for a number of years, especially under the floodlights, however with a new chairlift and two slopes created, the Peretol sector is the latest addition to Grandvalira. This Autumn the team behind Andorra Resorts and Destination Ski team, alongside the help of local businesses, are launching Coats For Cardiff – a scheme asking local people to donate unwanted ski jackets so that they can then be distributed amongst the rough sleeping population of Cardiff.

In a short break from ski-related news, time for something you don’t normally associate with Andorra – football. FC Andorra, recently purchased by Barcelona (and former Manchester United) defender Gerard Pique, have been successfully ‘promoted’ to the third tier of Spanish football.

On Monday 22nd April we’ll be hitting the slopes for the last time this season. After that, we’ll sadly have a long, agonising wait until Grandvalira reopens in December. Here is a round up of the 2018/19 season and all the fantastic events that took place.
Is it your first time in Pal Arinsal? For those who are new in this Vallnord ski resort it is important to know that it is formed by two different areas, Pal and Arinsal, both included under the same ski pass and connected by the mountain via cable car but also by road thanks to the Vallnord Free Bus service.
With the close of season rapidly descending on us, you may be wishing for one last chance to hit the slopes – well there is plenty of time left to fit in a last-minute, flexible trip! The end of season is renowned for quiet slopes and blue skies so why not make the most of it. Sunday (17th March) the FIS World Cup Finals came to a close in Grandvalira after an exciting week which attracted around 25,000 spectators in total. This was the first time Andorra has hosted this prestigious event, which is considered by many to be the most important competition on the pro-ski tour after the Olympic Games and World Championships.
Are you coming to ski in Arinsal? Is it your first ski holiday? Well, the first thing we want to clarify is that you must know that skiing is not all about skiing. There are many other things that will make your holiday a top experience. And of course, one of the most important is the “après-ski”, which means, take a beer after skiing or recover strength eating a good fondue, or a pizza, to return to the slopes the next day with more energy.
